Role and Responsibilities
(45%) 1.0 Accounting
- Using Sage, track income and expenses of CAHEC Development, CAHEC MM, CAHEC Preservation, and CAHEC Properties Corporation.
- Collect and submit invoices for CAHEC Properties Corporation and its’ affiliates to Senior Vice President or Director, Development for approval.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable in Sage and Yardi.
- Prepare of monthly financial statements in Sage for review by Senior Vice President and Director, Development.
(30%)2.0 Development
- Review state agency Qualified Application Plans and Manuals.
- Assist with third-party reports to include providing due diligence documentation and reviewing draft reports.
- Work with Operations Manager to assist in application preparation.
(25%)3.0 Construction Monitoring and Project Completion
- Collaborate with the Development Finance Manager to assist in preparing monthly draw submissions for equity investors and lenders.
- Prepare development draw invoices for approval and payment including verification of vendor information and processing in Yardi.
- Distribute draw proceeds to approved payees.
- Perform other related duties as requested or assigned.

Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation (CAHEC) is a non-profit community investment company based in Raleigh, NC, with the mission to provide communities affordable housing and opportunities for growth and revitalization by investing in qualified tax credit products throughout the southeast and mid-Atlantic. CAHEC Properties Corp (CPC) a non-profit affiliate of CAHEC, is based in Columbia, SC. CPC owns, acquires, rehabilitates, and develops affordable apartment communities in the southeast and mid-Atlantic. CPC’s mission is to expand the availability of quality affordable housing and maintain a portfolio of affordable housing that provides excellent service to residents, investors, and communities.
CAHEC Properties Corporation Overview
CPC is responsible for (i) structuring, negotiating, and closing new and resyndicated development projects, (ii) providing owner representation for properties owned by CPC and its affiliates, and (iii) acquiring affordable properties that are at risk of removal from the affordable housing stock. Through its affiliates, CPC is the Managing Member or General Partner for over two hundred and thirty multifamily affordable housing communities and, in this role, is responsible for the physical and economical oversight of each property. Specifically, CPC is responsible to ensure all applicable compliance is maintained, the physical condition of each property is at a high quality, all local, state, and federal reporting requirements are met, and financial commitments to investors and other stakeholders are maintained. CPC is also responsible for overseeing all property and corporate accounting and finance functions of CPC and its affiliated entities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, real estate, math, finance, business, accounting, or economics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and comparable work experience.

Preferred Skills
- Proven ability to demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles to review budgets and financials and process accounts payable.
- Knowledge of the LIHTC Program and USDA 515, 521 and 538 programs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities and easily adapt to constantly changing priorities to meet established timetables.
- Proven ability to listen and understand issues being presented, and to think analytically to develop and recommend effective creative solutions.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), particularly for obtaining, organizing, and accurately conveying information pertaining to portfolio and property performance.
- Work with an overall methodology consistent with CAHEC’s principles of integrity and social responsibility and values of quality, customer service, leadership, innovation, personal development, and fun.
